Red poppies, one of my favorite flowers since last year. European fields are covered with these beautiful plants, maybe 3 or 4 scattered around, but you can spot them a mile away. They are so simple and add the perfect amount of color to anything.
I noticed these poppies again this summer, especially in War Sites and Memorials. I knew it represented "Remembrance" ... but why the red poppy?
In our French Cinema class, I learned that on dead ground, where everything is destroyed, like on land where a war has taken place and there is no life left, everything is rotting and barren...the first things to grow are red poppies.
I find this to be very deep, and another reason to love red poppies more.
